For sale by the third owner is this well maintained 1978 Fiat Spider. The Fiat 124 Sport Spider is a convertible sports car marketed by Fiat for model years 1966-1985. Designed by and manufactured at the Italian carrozzeria Pininfarina factory, the monocoque, front-engine, rear drive Sport Spider debuted at the November 1966 Turin Auto Show with styling by Tom Tjaarda.

This Fiat Spider comes equipped with a brand new radiator as well as common maintenance for the period that it was owned by the current owner. It comes with the stock 1,995 cc twin-cam inline 4 engine producing roughly 100 HP. It also comes with a Weber carburetor which is notorious from the era.

The owner states that the car needs a jump every once in a while. This could be solved with a simple alternator replacement or a new battery but no further clarification was given. Additionally, there are some areas of bondo that the previous owner applied. The top looks to be in overall good condition. In addition the yellow paint (color code 247), looks to be in decent condition.

This car has lived the majority of its life in California and has little to no rust on the body or on major components. While it could use a detail, this Fiat looks to be a solid example of a 1978 124 Spider.

The interior looks to be in good shape with 90% of the dials and gauges in functioning shape. Additionally, the lights are fully functioning. While the back bucket seat is in great shape, the driver and passenger seats could use a refresh or replacement. The steering wheel is also in great shape, and does not suffer from cracking as many similar examples do. In addition, the dashboard has no cracking or oxidation, which is common with California cars (strong year round sun).

This clean titled, non-op 1978 Fiat Spider is a solid example of a rust free, Italian legend. While it could use some interior work, the bones and components seem to be in great shape. This looks to be a great car that should go to a home of someone willing to put a little bit of elbow grease and time into it.

While it does suffer from some cosmetic issues, this Fiat Spider is a prime example of a <$10k Italian classic. With an inline four, these cars are notoriously simple to work on for home mechanics and amateurs alike.
